Hiwassee Community

The Bruderhof (German for “place of brothers”) is a Christian intentional community of families and singles who share their possessions and live together seeking to fully live out Jesus’ teachings in the Sermon on the Mount.

Hiwassee Bruderhof, near the Unicoi Mountains, was founded in 2021 and is home to several dozen people. We’re renovating the existing buildings of the former Hiwassee College which our community is located on with hope to become home to many more over the next few years. We’re a mix of families and singles who live, work, and worship together. We share a daily meal in our communal dining hall, and worship together several times throughout the week. Please feel free to get in touch if you would like to meet or visit, or to learn more about our plans for the future, including a regenerative agriculture business.

We appreciate meeting our new neighbors and learning about the heritage and history of our new home. We are also looking forward to using existing venues such as the former college auditorium and student center to host neighborhood events.
